CADagency is delighted to be working with a family-run steel-framed building design, fabrication, and installation company based in Kidderminster. Specialising in agricultural, industrial, storage, and sports steel-framed units, our client serves projects across the UK, consistently delivering high-quality solutions. Due to ongoing high demand, they are now looking to expand their in-house team and recruit a Tekla Designer with experience in steel structures, including cladding and cold-rolled designs.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and detail-oriented individual to join a thriving business in a key role. Our client currently relies on an outsourced CAD resource for their drawings but is now looking to bring this function in-house to streamline processes and increase efficiency. The role is office-based, with flexibility to work from home approximately twice a week, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
As a Tekla Designer, you will play a crucial role in the entire design process, from the initial client contact to the final design approval. You will work closely with clients to fully understand the building’s requirements and constraints, ensuring that your designs meet their needs. Using Tekla, you will produce working drawings that will be submitted for client approval, before moving on to create fabrication drawings and material requirements for the shop floor team. You will also be responsible for managing and updating these drawings as projects progress, ensuring that any changes are reflected in real time. Additionally, you will collaborate with surveyors to gain a deeper understanding of each project’s specific scope and requirements, with occasional site visits to support this.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience working with Tekla on steel structure designs, with a strong understanding of steel-framed buildings, including cladding and cold-rolled designs
- Experience producing working, fabrication, and shop floor drawings
- The ability to work closely with clients and surveyors to understand project requirements and constraints
- A proactive approach to managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to update and revise drawings as necessary throughout the project lifecycle
- A full UK driver’s licence, as site visits will be required to support projects
- A keen attention to detail and strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, internal teams, and suppliers
