CADagency is delighted to be working with a leading developer and constructor of purpose-built residential care homes based in Garforth, Leeds. With over 30 years of experience and innovation, they are recognised as the UK’s leading provider in this sector. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Architectural Technician to join their development design team.
As a Senior Architectural Technician, you will be responsible for managing a team of technicians while also handling your own project workload. You will play a key role in the design and development of care home projects, ensuring that designs are practical, compliant with regulations, and effectively implemented. Your work will involve producing feasibility and planning designs, liaising closely with all project stakeholders, and ensuring that all designs align with the client’s requirements and the project’s constraints.
- Manage a team of technicians, reviewing their work and managing workloads to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Contribute to internal design workshops, bringing innovative solutions and technical expertise to the team.
- Mentor and support junior technicians, fostering professional development within the team.
- Develop and refine feasibility stage designs, considering site constraints and client requirements.
- Produce high-quality 3D visualisations for planning submission packs.
- Work with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to optimise building layouts and site planning.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, ensuring compliance with national and local authority requirements.
- Identify and mitigate design-related health and safety risks at each stage of the project.
- Lead and coordinate the early-stage design process, ensuring project milestones are met.
- Manage multiple projects, balancing quality, timescales, and resource allocation.
- Stay up to date with UK planning policies, building regulations, and CDM 2015 compliance.
- Conduct site visits to assess land and surroundings, adjusting designs accordingly based on the gathered information.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in architectural technology, building technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp, with strong 3D visualisation and rendering skills.
- Extensive knowledge of building construction, materials, methods, and UK planning and building regulations.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction or architectural industry.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering projects.
- Strong organisational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working Hours
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Based in an office environment with site visits required as necessary
