CADagency is delighted to be working with a leading manufacturer of HGV bodies. Our client is a market leader in the industry, known for producing high-quality transport solutions. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their busy and dynamic Design Team.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work both individually and as part of a team on a variety of design projects. You will handle tasks ranging from quick modifications to large-scale design and R&D projects, including the creation of working drawings, assembly sketches, and bills of materials. Additionally, there will be opportunities to attend customer sites and car manufacturing plants to participate in loading trials and evaluate your designs in real-world scenarios.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering Design, or an HNC, with proven experience in the field
  • Experience with Autocad 2D and Autodesk Inventor 3D software
  • A strong understanding of steel component fabrication methods and a solid knowledge of welded fabrications
  • The ability to validate designs and specifications, ensuring all components and assemblies meet the required standards
  • The skill to calculate stresses and approve designs for manufacture using first principles (basic requirement)
  • A good understanding of hydraulics, electrics, and pneumatic systems and their installations
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an innovative and logical approach
  • Experience in technical reporting and tolerance analysis
  • A high level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Publisher, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • The ability to work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with current C and U regulations and EU directives is advantageous but not essential

You will be responsible for creating and issuing engineering detail and assembly drawings for production release, setting up manufacturing bills of materials, and ensuring all designs are validated and approved. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure that projects are completed to the highest standards and meet client requirements.
