CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist in prefabricated plantrooms and commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems based in High Wycombe. Our client is looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the continued growth of its off-site fabrication work, joining an established team of five designers.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing drawings and models for prefabricated plantrooms and mechanical building services systems. Your work will primarily support the plantroom division, with additional design assistance for mechanical installation projects.
You will use AutoCAD and Plant 3D to prepare schematics, general arrangement drawings and coordinated models, alongside contributing to plantroom technical submissions. Projects involve commercial pipework systems, including pipe diameters of up to 200mm, with a practical focus on fabrication and installation.
You will work closely with the design team, project management and manufacturing colleagues, liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and client representatives as required. You will also provide technical drawing and design support to the sales and estimating teams when needed.
Our client is open to applicants at different stages of their career. You should have experience producing mechanical drawings or models, ideally within building services, HVAC or related pipework applications. Plant 3D experience is particularly desirable, alongside familiarity with AutoCAD.
You will need good attention to detail, clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across design and production. An understanding of how drawings translate into fabricated assemblies would be useful. Design work is carried out in Plant 3D, with models transferable into Revit for coordination, so Revit design experience is not a core requirement.
