CADagency is delighted to be working with a family-run construction business based in Warrington with over 35 years of experience designing, manufacturing and installing canopies and roof glazing systems. With projects across the education, rail and retail sectors, the company produces bespoke systems in-house using aluminium and polycarbonate, delivering tailored installations to clients throughout the UK.
We’re assisting them in recruiting for a Senior CAD Technician to join their growing technical team. The role is predominantly 2D AutoCAD-based, focusing on producing accurate and detailed GA drawings, fabrication packs and material schedules to support end-to-end project delivery. You’ll also support site teams with surveys, installation packs and post-installation documentation.
You’ll be working closely with the technical and planning teams to deliver well-communicated design packs, coordinating across departments from sales through to manufacture and installation. The role will involve liaising directly with customers to confirm design intent and occasionally attending site meetings and surveys, with travel and accommodation covered when required.
- Produce 2D GA drawings including plans, elevations and sections using AutoCAD
- Prepare fabrication drawings, cutting lists, paint schedules and material allocations using AutoCAD and Excel
- Attend site surveys and customer meetings across the UK, contributing to accurate design documentation
- Liaise with project planners, sales and factory teams to ensure seamless workflow through to installation
- Create ‘as-built’ drawings for O&M manuals and manage post-install snagging
- Prepare RAMS and chair pre-site meetings to hand over designs to installation teams
Key Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in a construction-related CAD role (e.g. structural framing, curtain walling, roofing or cladding)
- Highly proficient in 2D AutoCAD
- Experience using Excel for scheduling and data management
- Comfortable attending sites and liaising directly with clients and installers
- Understanding of construction processes and awareness of CDM regulations
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor would be advantageous but not essential (training available)
- Driving licence required
This is an office-based role in Warrington with occasional travel for surveys. The position includes 26 days holiday (plus bank holidays), with some days required to be held for the Christmas shutdown.
