CADagency is delighted to be working with a well-established manufacturer of construction-related products. With decades of experience, the company designs, develops and supplies solutions that support infrastructure, build quality and long-term performance across the construction sector.

We are assisting them in recruiting for a SolidWorks Design Engineer to join their in-house design and technical team. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you’ll be responsible for designing both new and existing products using a variety of materials. The role will involve translating technical briefs into fully developed CAD models and drawings, supporting product development from concept through to manufacture.

This is a collaborative role, working closely with stakeholders across the business including manufacturing, quality and commercial teams. You’ll also take part in site visits to assess performance, spot opportunities for improvement, and support design refinement.

On a daily basis, you’ll be producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks, along with technical drawings, manufacturing packs and datasheets. Your role will involve running FEA simulations, supporting tooling development for plastic-based parts and helping to optimise existing product ranges. You’ll be expected to contribute to cost-effective, technically feasible design solutions that align with business needs.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing plastic-based products (e.g. polypropylene), with knowledge of tooling and manufacturing techniques

  • Comfortable producing technical documentation and manufacture-ready outputs
  • Financially aware in your approach to design and development
  • Excellent team communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Willingness to work across a variety of material types and support site-based activities when required
