CADagency is delighted to be working with our client, a specialist manufacturer based in Nottingham. Our client supplies plastic products into the bioprocessing and life sciences sector, working within a regulated manufacturing environment. Due to continued workload and a move towards more standardised engineering design processes, they are looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer.
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for translating customer requirements into clear, accurate and manufacturable engineering drawings for single-use plastic systems. The role will involve working closely with customers, sales, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure design requirements are properly understood, documented and communicated through high-quality technical drawings.
You will create and maintain detailed 2D drawings, 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks, ensuring accuracy, clarity and alignment with the required design intent. A key part of the role will be supporting the transition towards more standardised SolidWorks workflows across the business, including modelling best practice, drawing templates and data structure.
The role will also involve reviewing and updating drawings based on feedback from manufacturing, quality and customers. You will support Design for Manufacture activity, maintain accurate Bills of Materials and support engineering change processes through PLM and ERP systems. You will also take part in design reviews and help identify opportunities to improve drawing quality, turnaround time and repeatability.
For the role, you should have:
- Strong SolidWorks experience, including part modelling, assemblies and detailed drawing creation
- Experience in design engineering or drafting within a regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience within medical device, bioprocessing or a similar regulated industry would be highly beneficial
- Experience translating customer requirements into engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Good understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis and engineering drawing standards
- Experience working with BOMs, engineering change processes and PLM or ERP systems
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, cGMP or similar regulated quality systems would be beneficial
