Specialising in hygiene systems to the food manufacturing industry, our client is dedicated to helping food manufacturers maximise production while minimising waste. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit a skilled Product Design Engineer to join their New Product Development team.
As a Product Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the innovation and development of new products. This dynamic and demanding role involves managing R&D projects from concept to delivery, creating technical and manufacturing drawings, and performing hands-on testing of new products. You will work closely with both internal teams and external suppliers to ensure the smooth development and implementation of new products. This role offers the opportunity to engage with a variety of tasks, allowing you to use your creativity and technical skills to help shape the future of the business.
- Manage R&D projects from concept to delivery using project planning tools like Gantt charts and timelines.
- Create drawings for concept ideas, technical submittals, and manufacturing purposes.
- Develop technical and assembly drawings to facilitate manufacturing and testing.
- Set up and conduct testing of new products, ranging from accessories to machines requiring plumbing.
- Liaise with external suppliers and manage the procurement of components for R&D projects.
- Maintain accurate project records, including design iterations, test results, and specifications.
Key Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, with the ability to create and edit engineering drawings for manufacturing.
- Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Basic electrical and mechanical skills with the ability to use common hand tools and power tools for testing.
- A positive mindset and a can-do attitude, particularly under pressure.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with other departments.
- Industrial design qualifications or a related field.
- Practical experience using tools, hand tools, and assembly work.
- Strong IT skills, proficient in all office applications.
- Willingness to travel for supplier visits and exhibitions as required.
Working Hours
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:30 am to 16:30 pm
- Based in Lincoln, with occasional travel required
