CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist engineering firm based in Weston-super-Mare that designs, manufactures and installs water treatment systems for clients across the UK and internationally. With a team that brings together over 100 years of combined expertise, the company delivers fully integrated, end-to-end systems across clean water, wastewater and reuse applications, with sustainability and compliance at the heart of every design.
We’re assisting them in recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their in-house team at their offices. You’ll be working on the design and development of bespoke plant systems, turning engineering concepts into precise technical drawings and assemblies. The role is office-based with occasional flexibility for home working, depending on project timelines and after training.
You’ll be producing accurate P&IDs, layout plans and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks. Alongside this, you’ll manage a 3D library of plant items and collaborate with project engineers and clients to ensure designs are practical, high-performing and fully validated. The team values a hands-on approach and this role will also involve contributing to quality checks and supporting manufacturing handovers.
- Create P&IDs, layout plans and general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks
- Maintain and develop a standardised 3D design library
- Collaborate with the wider engineering and projects team to meet client specifications
- Support manufacturing validation and system quality checks
- Assist in standardising workflows and improving technical documentation
Key Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a mechanical design role
- Proficiency in SolidWorks with some exposure to AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD tools
- Qualification in mechanical or design engineering preferred, though equivalent practical experience will be considered
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, adaptable and eager to develop technical knowledge
