CADagency is delighted to be working with a leading company specialising in safety and access solutions, based in Sheffield. With a strong reputation in providing height safety systems, the company operates across a range of high-profile projects within the construction and engineering sectors. Due to growth and an exciting new contract, they are looking to recruit a Lead Designer to join their expanding team.

As a Lead Designer, you will be responsible for managing a major project, ensuring that all designs meet the specified requirements. Your role will involve producing technical drawings and models, liaising with clients, architects, engineers, and project managers, and ensuring that designs are accurate and easy to interpret. You will work with Autodesk Revit, BIM software, and other tools to design technical solutions for access packages and steelwork.

The initial project is located in North West London and occasional site visits will be required. The role can have a hybrid or remote flexibility as long as you are able to make regular visits to the Sheffield offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take information from multiple plans and models and integrate them into a single computer model.
  • Liaise with design teams, clients, architects, surveyors, engineers, and project managers to ensure alignment on project requirements.
  • Produce structural models, drawings, and schedules using Autodesk Revit and BIM software.
  • Design technical solutions for access packages and steelwork.
  • Manage project timelines and programming using Microsoft Project.
  • Oversee project designers and sub-contractors, ensuring that plans are accurate and easy to interpret.
  • Raise the profile of BIM within the company across departments.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to the latest industry standards.

Key Skills

  • Previous experience in the construction industry with multi-site operations; rail and airport experience is advantageous.
  • You will ideally have experience with secondary steelwork or any kind of structural design from aluminium/steel/stainless steel materials.
  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a construction-related discipline, with a focus on BIM.
  • Proficiency in CAD, Revit, and Bentley Microstation.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, equipment, and plant.
  • A professional approach when dealing with issues and communicating with clients and teams.
