Construction Estimator

Job Location: Halifax
Minimum Salary: £35000
Maximum Salary: £45000
CADagency Reference: DT884

CADagency is delighted to be working with an established and growing architectural glazing firm based in Halifax. Due to continued success and a growing pipeline of bespoke glasswork projects across the UK, our client is looking to formalise their internal estimating process and reduce pressure on the Projects Director.

This is a new role that will suit someone with experience handling complex, custom-built packages, ideally with a background in glazing, façades, architectural metalwork, or similar bespoke construction sectors. You’ll work directly with the Directors, playing a crucial role in project costing, valuation, and margin control.

As an Estimator, you’ll be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for high-spec glazing and façade installations across the UK. You will work closely with the Projects Director to implement more structured internal systems for pricing, supplier management, and cost tracking. Additionally, you will support live projects by tracking changes and assisting with valuations.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for bespoke projects using internal templates and spreadsheets.
  • Work alongside Directors to understand client requirements and technical specifications.
  • Maintain and develop the supplier pricing library for improved consistency and efficiency.
  • Track project changes (omissions, additions, scope updates) and manage ongoing cost revisions.
  • Support monthly and final project valuations, ensuring accurate financial reporting.

You will have proven experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor within bespoke construction, including sectors such as glazing, façades, and steelwork. A strong commercial awareness and exceptional attention to detail are essential for this role. You should be comfortable working closely with Directors and internal teams in a small, fast-paced office environment, contributing to the smooth running of projects. Proficiency in Excel, particularly as an advanced user, is required, along with experience working with drawings to extract costing data. You will also need excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with clients and colleagues.

Additionally, you will be required to visit client sites across the UK. Travel will be done via train and public transport, with all travel costs and overtime paid for by the company.
