CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist joinery manufacturer based in St. Neots, producing high volumes of panel-based furniture for commercial environments across the UK. Their work is commonly supplied into student accommodation, hotels and education facilities, with occasional retail and reception area projects. Due to a team change, our client is now looking to recruit a SolidWorks Joinery Designer to support the design and manufacturing process.
As a SolidWorks Joinery Designer, you will be responsible for designing panel-based furniture systems and preparing accurate manufacturing drawings for production. You will work closely with the Managing Director and production team to translate design concepts into practical, buildable joinery solutions that can be manufactured efficiently.
Much of the work focuses on bulk furniture using cam and lock systems, so strong attention to detail and a good understanding of panel-based construction methods will be important. You will produce SolidWorks models, develop detailed manufacturing drawings and support the production team to ensure furniture is manufactured accurately and efficiently.
The company uses SolidWorks and AutoCAD and works primarily with panel materials used in commercial furniture manufacture. Typical projects include bedroom furniture for student accommodation, fitted furniture for hotels, classroom furniture and reception desks.
Key responsibilities will include producing 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings, developing panel layouts and furniture assemblies, preparing production information for manufacture and working with the production team to ensure designs are practical and cost effective. The role may also involve reviewing project specifications and adjusting designs to suit manufacturing requirements.
You should have:
- Experience designing joinery or furniture using SolidWorks
- A good understanding of panel-based furniture and cam and lock construction methods
- Experience producing manufacturing drawings for joinery or fitted furniture
- The ability to work closely with production teams and understand manufacturing processes
