CADagency is delighted to be working with a UK-based manufacturer operating in a regulated technical products sector. The business designs and manufactures specialist equipment used across laboratory and controlled environments. This is an office-based role in Weston-super-Mare, working closely with production and operations.
You will join the business as their sole Product Design Engineer, reporting directly to the Production Operations Manager. Your role will focus on product development, technical design and detailed manufacturing drawings, supporting both standard products and bespoke customer requirements. You will take ownership of design activity from concept through to manufacture, playing a key role in improving existing products, introducing new designs and supporting continuous improvement across the business.
On a day-to-day basis, you will produce detailed technical drawings and customer approval drawings using Autodesk Inventor, raise and implement Product Design Change Requests, and ensure all drawings are accurately controlled and up to date. You will create parts lists, technical manuals and assembly documentation, maintain technical files and databases, and support warranty reduction through improved design solutions. As the business continues to evolve, you will also be encouraged to identify and develop innovative design ideas as technology advances.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment, ideally involving sheet metal and plastic fabrication
- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks and AutoCAD in a professional setting
- Comfortable working independently as the sole designer and taking ownership of projects
- Engineering qualification at HND level or above, with GCSE Maths and English
Experience with ISO 9001 environments, Autodesk Vault or Revit for BIM objects would be advantageous but is not essential.
