With a focus on architectural integration, the company collaborates closely with architects and interior designers to deliver beautifully considered, high-performance solutions for commercial projects.
Due to ongoing growth, our client is now looking to recruit an Industrial Designer to join their in-house product development team. This is a permanent, full-time position and will suit a creatively driven designer with strong technical skills and a passion for minimal, functional design.
As an Industrial Designer, you’ll be involved in all stages of product development, from concept through to manufacture. This role isn’t just about being proficient in SolidWorks, it’s about applying true design thinking to balance form and function across a range of commercial and bespoke product solutions. You’ll be generating new ideas, refining existing designs and ensuring that all components meet both design intent and manufacturing constraints. The work spans sanitaryware, washroom fixtures and furniture, often incorporating metal, solid surface and other durable materials.
You’ll be expected to work with internal departments including marketing, sales and production to develop visuals, shop drawings and manufacturing packs. You’ll also help maintain an accurate digital library of product documentation and ensure that custom project drawings are issued and updated in line with evolving specifications.
- Lead on the design of new products from concept development through to production
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, 3D models and design intent visuals using SolidWorks
- Develop and refine technical solutions for architectural integration and high-traffic environments
- Support the creation of product documentation including technical specs, installation drawings and marketing visuals
- Manage updates to existing products and contribute to design standards across the range
Key Skills
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, with experience in design for manufacture
- Background in industrial design, product design or a similar discipline with a design-led focus
- A natural sense of proportion, detailing and aesthetic quality in functional products
- Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience reading architectural plans and understanding commercial project constraints
