CADagency is delighted to be working with an established electrical contractor based in Ashton-under-Lyne. Our client delivers electrical design and installation services across residential, commercial and industrial construction projects throughout the UK. Due to a strong and continuing project workload, they are looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer on either a full-time or part-time permanent basis.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing electrical designs and technical documentation for a varied range of construction projects. Working from the Ashton-under-Lyne office, you will support projects from design development through to delivery, working closely with engineering, project management and site teams.
Your work will include the design of LV power distribution, lighting and associated electrical systems. You will produce electrical layouts, schematics and detailed drawings using AutoCAD, complete electrical network calculations and cable sizing using Amtech and prepare internal and external lighting designs using Relux or DIALux.
You will be expected to ensure designs comply with BS 7671 and relevant UK Building Regulations, while considering installation requirements and practical construction constraints. As the role sits within an electrical contractor, you will have regular involvement with live projects and work closely with the teams responsible for delivering the installation on site.
Key skills and experience:
- Previous electrical design experience within the construction or building services sector
- Strong AutoCAD experience
- Experience using Amtech for electrical calculations and cable sizing
- Experience using Relux or DIALux for lighting design
- Good knowledge of BS 7671 wiring regulations
- Experience designing LV power distribution and lighting systems
- Residential, commercial or industrial project experience
