CADagency is delighted to be working with our client, a long established manufacturer within the agricultural engineering sector, as they look to appoint a Design Engineer for their site in North Devon. Our client designs and builds self-propelled crop sprayers in-house and is continuing to invest in its product range, technology and manufacturing capability. This hire is to support the existing design team and ongoing product development activity.
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing new and existing products across our client’s range. You will work closely with the wider design, manufacturing and management teams to turn concepts into practical, manufacturable solutions, supporting products from design through to prototype and production. The role is fully site-based in North Devon and would suit someone who enjoys being close to the factory, the product and the build process.
Day to day, you will produce and update 3D models, drawings and engineering documentation, maintain design files and support ongoing product improvements. You will also assist with technical reporting, investigate manufacturing issues, contribute to root cause analysis and help implement corrective actions through continuous improvement activity. The role will involve exposure to mechanical systems, control systems and production-related problem solving, so it should appeal to someone with a practical engineering mindset and a strong understanding of how products are designed and built in a manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have experience in a mechanical design or product design role within manufacturing, along with a good understanding of engineering design and safety principles. You will need 3D CAD experience such as SolidWorks or Inventor and any previous use of PTC Creo or other PTC products would be advantageous. Experience of machining, sheet metal processes, automation or design standards would also be beneficial.
Key skills and experience:
- Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience
- Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally with Creo or similar software
- Mechanical design experience within a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of machining, sheet metal, automation or related production processes
