CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist construction subcontractor based in Glasgow. With extensive industry experience across its leadership team, our client operates within food, retail, pharmaceutical, electronics, healthcare and research sectors, often delivering complex projects within live commercial environments. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced CAD Technician to support the design and technical delivery of projects.
As a CAD Technician, you will be responsible for producing coordinated construction issue drawings and technical details using AutoCAD LT. Working closely with the Design Manager and project teams, you will support projects from early design development through to completion and as-built information, ensuring drawings accurately reflect sequencing, buildability and site constraints.
You will review structural steelwork information and liaise with architectural and engineering teams to resolve coordination issues. The role will involve managing drawing revisions, RFIs and redline updates throughout the project lifecycle, maintaining compliance with BIM protocols and Common Data Environment workflows. You will also support tender submissions by preparing technical drawing packages under tight deadlines and attend coordination meetings to contribute to clash resolution.
This role would suit someone comfortable working within a subcontractor environment, where practical understanding of site delivery and attention to detail are essential.
You should have:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a construction-based CAD role
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD LT
- Experience producing construction-ready drawings and specifications
- An understanding of structural steelwork and its integration with architectural and MEP systems
- Familiarity with BIM protocols and Common Data Environment platforms such as BIM 360, Asite, Aconex or Viewpoint
- Good working knowledge of UK construction standards and detailing conventions
- The ability to manage multiple drawing packages and work independently
Experience with Revit would be beneficial but is not essential.
