Architectural Recruitment

CADagency specialises in recruiting CAD and technical professionals for the architectural sector. Architecture has been a core part of our business since 2013 and we continue to support practices across the UK, from smaller design studios through to large, multidisciplinary firms.

Our focus within architecture is predominantly on Architectural Technicians and Technologists, supporting practices that require strong technical delivery, BIM capability and construction-stage coordination. We work closely with clients to understand how technical roles sit within their teams and ensure candidates are aligned on both software capability and delivery expectations.

We regularly recruit across a range of technical and design-support roles within architectural practices, including:

Architectural Technicians and Technologists
Responsible for technical detailing, drawing packages, BIM coordination and construction-stage support.

Junior and Intermediate Architectural Assistants
Supporting design development, drawing production and project coordination.

Senior Architectural Technicians
Taking ownership of technical delivery, coordination and mentoring within project teams.

The majority of candidates we place within architecture roles now work in BIM-led environments, most commonly using Revit alongside AutoCAD.

Training and Development

Training provision remains mixed across the architectural sector.

In the latest survey, around 42% of Architecture-sector respondents said they have not received formal job-related training for the software they use. This is most common at junior and intermediate level and often contributes to candidates seeking roles with clearer development pathways.

Respondents who reported receiving training were significantly more likely to feel valued by their employer and less likely to be actively considering a move, reinforcing the importance of structured development within architectural practices.

2026 Architectural Salary Insight

Based on Architecture-sector respondents in the CADagency 2026 Employment Survey, average salaries across the UK sit as follows:

  • Junior Architectural Technicians: £30,400

  • Intermediate Architectural Technicians: £37,900

  • Senior Architectural Technicians: £45,800

These figures reflect technical architecture roles rather than qualified Architect positions and highlight the growing value placed on strong technical and BIM capability.

Revit vs non-Revit Salaries

Revit capability continues to attract a salary premium within architecture.

  • Architecture professionals using Revit reported an average salary of £41,600

  • Those not using Revit reported an average salary of £36,200

While most architectural technicians now work in Revit-based environments, the data shows that those without Revit exposure tend to sit at earlier career stages or within smaller practices using legacy workflows.

Architecture roles continue to evolve, with a clear shift towards technically strong, BIM-capable professionals.

Revit has become the dominant platform across architectural practices. In the latest survey, the majority of Architecture-sector respondents listed Revit as a core software skill, reflecting its position as a baseline requirement rather than a specialist advantage.

Hybrid working is now common across architectural teams, particularly for technical roles focused on drawing production and coordination. Practices offering flexibility alongside clear project ownership and progression tend to retain staff more effectively, especially at intermediate and senior level.

There is also increased demand for technicians who can bridge technical delivery with communication, particularly during later project stages. Candidates with construction-stage experience remain in particularly high demand.
