Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist precision engineering company based in Cambridge. Due to on going high demand they are looking to recruit an experienced SolidWorks Sheetmetal Designer with previous work experience in the manufacturing sector. The company prides itself on being a one stop shop for design, manufacturing and assembly and for this role you will be working closely with the production team as well as sales staff and other design engineers to ensure all sheet metal and fabrication projects meet cost, customer and delivery expectations.

On a daily basis you will be working on the following tasks:

  • Plan production methods for parts requiring Production Engineering including your input to suitable process routing sheets
  • Design jigs fixtures and special tooling to support the production process
  • Ensure correct tooling is available to produce components in an efficient manner
  • To assist with the control of revision levels of customer drawings
  • Liaise with and prepare any customer required technical information
  • To provide technical support and assistance to the Production and Quality Teams
  • To produce required CAD Data and Coordinates for Machines, including part programs using  all company software as required
  • Works in a timely manner to meet the weekly Production plan whilst ensuring no delays due to Engineering
  • To ensure that the Company Quality standards are followed
  • The updating of routings as required to current methods
  • The updating of Bills of Materials as required to current methods
  • The photographing and recording of fixtures and set ups as required onto Progress
  • Actively monitor working practises and provide feedback to improve efficiencies and job profitability
  • To assist in providing quotations/estimates as required
