Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with a multi-disciplinary construction consultancy with offices in Lincolnshire, Manchester and London. Our client specialise in the retail, leisure and commercial sectors and offer a full array of technical architectural services for numerous projects throughout the UK.

Due to retirement, we are assisting in recruiting for an experienced Senior Architectural Technician who can supervise and develop an Architectural Technician. You will be working with the existing design team in Lincolnshire as well as the team in Manchester. You will be within a busy team and work on a variety of projects, typically lasting up to 12 months, with values generally up to £3million.

Your role will primarily involve the production of technical detailing & construction packages for a range of retail, leisure and commercial projects. You will confidently provide solutions for a variety of planning & architectural purposes, supporting every aspect of a project from inception to completion.

You will be required to have an existing qualification in Architectural Technology or similar as well as eight years’ experience working on live projects within the UK.

Using AutoCAD, you will be directly involved in the design of internal and external works, permissions, working drawings and specifications. You will often need to integrate designs from different disciplines, whilst ensuring compliance with design, legal, statutory and professional requirements. You will undertake site visits and inspections as required, producing surveys and feasibility studies, and deal with client queries.

You have an understanding and awareness of both conventional and innovative approaches to construction, coupled with an ability to translate design concepts into clear and appropriate detail design solutions. You enjoy reviewing drawings and sections of existing structures and technical drawing / detailing packages. You will also have experience of undertaking full measured site surveys.

You have extensive experience of the applied use of AutoCAD: knowledge of Revit and 3D packages such as SketchUp would also be beneficial, but not essential. Detailed knowledge of current UK building regulations is essential, and BREEAM Assessment knowledge would also be beneficial. NBS Specification writing is also preferred, but not essential.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, together with a good working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office, including as a minimum, Outlook, Excel and Word.
