Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with a design and manufacturing company based in Bournemouth. Our client specialises in creating interactive kiosks and device enclosures for the retail, education, hospitality and commercial sectors. You will, no doubt, have interacted with one of their products at some point as they work with some of the UK’s leading brands and establishments.

Due to on-going high demand, we are assisting them in recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their existing Trade Design team. For this role, you will report to the Trade Design Manager and work to customise standard products to suit individual customer’s expectations and produce the Bill of Materials. You will work closely with the design manager and the wider design team as well as collaborating with the purchasing, Operational team and the Quality Manager.

You will use SolidWorks to modify existing products as well as liaise with sales and operations to ensure product is as per customer expectations. You will also need to maintain document control and ensure manufacturing data is produced. Once a project is signed off, you will manage the 3d printing schedule and work to create the CNC programs for shopfloor modifications. You will then liaise with the shopfloor staff to ensure assembly and part modifications is carried correctly. You will also work with the sales team to ensure the customer is getting the right product.

You will be required to have existing SolidWorks skills and have worked in a manufacturing environment before. You will need to understand design for sheet metal fabricated product, injection moulding and 3D printing.

As you will be working a part of a busy team, excellent communication is required at all stages of the design process. You will be flexible and approachable to enable to smooth interaction of all parties.

Preferred experience

• Experience with SolidWorks PDM Professional
• Experience with electromechanical assemblies such as wiring looms and switch assemblies
• Experience working with Chinese suppliers
