Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist supplier of high-performance fibres and fabrics based in Blackburn. Our client mainly services the composite and reinforced plastic markets with manufactured carbon fibre, glass fibre and aramid fibre products.

These products are used in a variety of different markets including automotive, aerospace, marine and renewable energy.

For this role, you will report to the Production Supervisor and primarily feed the production team operating the Zund CNC plotter/cutter with nests. As the CAD Technician, you will be responsible for taking customer files usually in .DXF format and process them into nests for the kit cutting team. You will also be responsible for the digitising of physical templates in various formats both on and off-site using photo digitising software to accurately capture and interpret key information.

You will liaise with the sales team and Production Supervisor to ensure the correct material is specified in marker reports and revise nests as they go through testing and approval stages.

For this role, you will ideally have previous experience in a manufacturing environment and understand production methods. You will also be required at times to make client visits and assist the sales team with technical support. This is a key role to support the manufacturing operation of the business, therefore an ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines is critical.

You will need to have existing 2D CAD drawing experience as well as nesting software. Training will be provided on the software used by our client but a general manufacturing / CNC knowledge is required. Working knowledge of Zund/Lectra/Gerber and other CNC digital knife cutting machines would be highly beneficial.
