Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist manufacturing company for the agricultural machinery sector. Our client develops and manufactures innovative machines and components that improve efficiency and make a real difference to the environment. These include Planters, Drills, Fertilisers and Hoppers.

Due to on-going high demand, we are assisting them in recruiting for an Engineering Design Manager. for this role you will oversee the engineering design projects and a team of 6 design engineers. You will be responsible to ensure projects are clearly scoped with achievable budgets and timelines. You will lead and develop the companies Design Engineering Management system in line with the needs of the evolving business.

On a daily basis you will manage the team and process to produce and deliver high-quality designs. This will include inspiring and leading direct reports and cross functional teams to deliver successful project deliveries.

You will work to improve the workflow and communication between the Sales team, Design team and delivery team. Great communication skills will be required to work closely with the assembly team to develop a BOM structure in MRP that optimises both the assembly and engineering release processes.

Other tasks will include

  • Lead the team efforts in design, drawing creation, BOM development, testing, manufacturing and safety reviews.
  • Develop and sign off project budgets, resource plans and delivery timelines.
  • Supporting the assembly team in Lean CI internal company programs promoting “just in time” and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Co ordinate design verification and validation.

For this role you will be required to have excellent design and technical skills including the ability to use SolidWorks to a high degree of technicality.  You will be to have a problem solving nature as well as being a creative thinker.

You will ideally come from an agricultural background with an understanding of UKCA, CE and Homologation.
