Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with a specialist fit-out joinery design and build manufacturing company based in Basildon. The company has been established over 25 years and has built up an excellent reputation of delivering the highest quality projects on time, every time.

Due to on-going high demand, there is a current requirement for an experienced Design Coordinator who possess experience within the D&B fit-out sector as well as excellent AutoCAD skills.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Design Director, as the Design Coordinator, you will ensure the companies commitment to complete every project on time and on budget, maintaining the preferred status with all the projects it undertakes is maintained, this role will be responsible for creating production drawings for manufacturing purposes specifically for Joinery and associated materials.

Key Result Areas

  1. Responsible for working with internal and external Stakeholders
    1. Working with the bid team/estimators to understand projects on the horizon and providing expert advice where necessary
    2. Attend design meetings and conduct site surveys as necessary and as and when required ensuring full understanding of requirements of project
    3. Responsible for identifying any potential challenges early in the project and raising this with the design director as in a timely way
    4. Identify, record and communicate all known design changes to the financial department as soon as they are known
    5. Attending team design meetings as and when required
    6. Carrying out site meetings as and when necessary
    7. Liaising with internal teams and site managers to ensure effective and timely handover of drawings for production
  2. Responsible for the creation of production drawings using relevant systems for manufacturing purposes specifically for Joinery and associated materials.
    1. To audit and update the predicted drawing issue schedule from project start up meetings
    2. To formulate a drawing issue schedule and record outgoing and commented upon drawings out and received
    3. To produce detailed surveys, design drawings /or allocate and monitor work to consultants liaising
  3. Responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in processes
    1. To constantly monitor and evaluate processes providing recommendations for added value improvements and implementing where necessary
  4. To undertake any other duties within your skills confidence to support the attainment of the companies key objectives
    1. To ensure effective communication with all areas of the business
    2. Ensure continuous improvement and development of self
  5. Responsible for positively contributing to a safe work environment ensure compliance with QUESH. Protect all personal information in adherence with Data Protection etc
    1. Complete all mandatory Health and Safety training and any corporate refresher training where required

Skills

Previous experience as a Design Coordinator would be an advantage, we are looking for someone with the following competencies:

  • Attention to detail and a strong desire for accuracy
  • Good organisational skills
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work is a must in this role
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Fluent in AutoCAD 2D minimum
  • Desirable 3D CAD Software, Autodesk Inventor and Sketchup
  • Desirable to have previous experience of manufacturing business
  • Excellent IT Skills, word and excel etc
  • Familiar with Project Intranets; BIW, CONJECT and ASITE
