Job description
CADagency is delighted to be working with a design and manufacturing company based in Birmingham. The company specialises in acoustic ventilation, louvres and grille equipment. They work closely with architects, designers, consultants and M&E contractors to offer a bespoke solutions for all types of building ventilation. Due to on-going high demand, they are looking to take on a CAD Technician to join their existing design team.
For this role, you will be reporting to the technical manager and you will be responsible for producing fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and maintaining drawing records.
On a daily basis you will be reading technical drawings, schedules, and specifications from clients, architects, project managers and stake holders. You will work to understand the exact clients requirements and prepare 2D fabrication drawings from sketches or order specifications using AutoCAD. Your role will then see you liaise with engineers to ensure all relevant technical information is accurately documented on drawings. Finally, you will submit drawings for approval, revise drawings as required and issue for manufacture.
Other daily tasks will include
- Maintain drawing register and any relevant schedules or supporting documents
- Identify and raise potential issues including tolerance or interfacing problems
- Assist product design and development activities
- Prepare isometric representations or 3D models to aid drawing clarity
Previous experience or qualification in mechanical engineering or equivalent would be beneficial. You will be required to have excellent AutoCAD skills and some fabrication or manufacturing design experience.
An awareness of construction tolerances is required although you will not be working to extreme tolerances.
