Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with an engineering and fabrication business based in Skelmersdale. Our client specialises in bespoke and turnkey mild & stainless-steel fabrication for the mechanical and electrical services sector. This includes project management, general fabrication, pipework and vessels specialisation. With on-site manufacturing facilities, they can offer a bespoke service to every client.

Due to on-going high demand, we are assisting them in recruiting for a Lead CAD Designer. For this role, your will work closely with the General Manager and Shopfloor Supervisor to produce and manage the CAD workload along with delegating tasks to Junior CAD Technicians.

You will be working as part of a multi-disciplined team responsible for the design of engineering projects. You will be actively involved in the delivery of allocated project workload of the design team. You will manage a team of CAD Technicians to deliver a strong technical solution that meets customer specifications and expectations, ensuring that all necessary reporting and administration deadlines are met.

Fundamentally, you will be working with AutoCAD 2D/3D, Autodesk Plant 3D and Autodesk Advanced steel. You will be working to create, prepare, and modify 2D and 3D drawings/models using AutoCAD Plant3D, Advanced Steel, Navisworks, and other industry-standard software suites to produce

  • 2D output: PIDs, PFDs, GAs, details, pipe supports, isometrics, site layouts, hazardous area classification layouts.
  • 3D output: 3D piping, mechanical equipment modelling, Navisworks 3D model federation, clash detection, modelling from point cloud data, 3D point cloud manipulation, BIM compliant models, pipework general arrangements and isometrics.

This will mainly involve developing piping and pipe support material specifications as well as piping design, isometric production, pipe supports.

Existing BIM and associated standards (ASME, BSi, ISO, etc), Navisworks, model federation and clash detection would be highly beneficial.

Working hours

40hrs Monday to Friday

Flexible time (early finish on a Friday if hours worked)
