Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with an automotive engineering company and a market leader in design and engineering of high quality cast commercial accessories. For this role, you will be working daily with SolidWorks and need previous experience in the automotive sector. You don’t need experience with engine design.

The role will primarily see you working to improve existing products and implementing them onto new vehicles. Each vehicle and application is bespoke and you will need an excellent understand of engineering within the automotive sector. The role will also see you creating part numbers, BOM’s, fitting instructions.

You will be responsible for the design, development and testing of new and existing products and work with the customer sales team on real time problem resolution. You will need to clearly and concisely communicate on and to all levels in business. You will need to organise and manage your workload and that of the design team.

There will also be opportunities for travelling aboard with bonus and full expenses paid for.

Other tasks will include

  • Design and create cost effective models of mechanical components via three-dimensional modelling, thermal and mechanical analysis, drawing release, testing plans. Primarily these models are engine bracketry to hold a weight whether that be air compressor, generator, refrigeration compressor and most driven by a belt
  • Understanding of belt drives
  • Plan, organise, control, and lead multiple simultaneous projects
  • Review and approve mechanical technical deliverables (specifications, datasheets, drawings, test plans and data)
  • Provide support with failure mode analysis, addressing quality complaints, working closely with component manufacturers to ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Be responsible for reviewing and approving new part requests and maintaining integrity of the dat
  • Technical liaison for Suppliers and customers.
  • Support the sales, quality control, warranty and purchasing teams
  • Create part numbers and product BOM’s
  • Create fitting instructions using Adobe InDesign, SolidWorks and Photoshop
  • Create power inspection programs for the quality control team
