Job description

CADagency is delighted to be working with a geo-environmental engineering company with offices in Bristol & Cardiff. Our clients works with house builders, developers, construction companies, land promoters and architects to provide a full range of site investigation, consultancy and remedial contracting services of geotechnical and geo-environmental issues upon new development sites. Our client is also a leading aerial drone surveying and 3D ground modelling services provider.

Due to on-going growth, we are assisting them in recruiting for an Aerial Surveyor to be based in their Bristol offices. This will be a permanent, full time role working within their 3D Modelling and Aerial Surveying (3MAS) team.

As an Aerial Surveyor you will be working within a small, friendly team in a highly varied role. You will be responsible for the planning and undertaking of drone flights and producing 2D and 3D modelling of the sites. You will also be involved with client liaison, quoting for work and providing technical support to our clients that use the companies services.

A commercial drone pilot’s license is preferable but not essential, however in time this is would an expectation of the role. Full support and training will be provided to achieve qualification. You will need to be CAD literate with excellent communication skills.

On a daily basis, you will undertake the following tasks

  • Conduct aerial surveys using remote sensing technologies, such as aerial photography and LiDAR
  • Plan and coordinate surveys, considering project objectives, flight paths, weather conditions, and any airspace regulations
  • Record and maintain flight logs
  • Operate and maintain aerial survey equipment, GPS systems, and other relevant equipment
  • Completion of aerial surveys in the field, pre-flight H&S planning and client liaison
  • Undertaking 3MAS capability presentations to potential/new clients
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices during aerial survey operations
  • Prepare 2D and 3D illustrative plans in accordance with the project purpose
  • Prepare topographical survey drawings from aerial survey data sets
  • Prepare cut and fill analysis models either from first or third party data
  • Undertake technical drawings in support of other departments
  • Assist in liaison with external consultants regarding 3rd party input to technical drawings
  • Assist in the booking and management of specialist plant and service suppliers in accordance with the project scope and in line with all relevant company standard operating procedures (SOPs)

For this role, you will ideally have a bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related geo-based field. Previous experience working in the surveying industry with knowledge of photogrammetry and/or using point clouds. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Pix4D or other GIS software.

As fieldwork is an integral part of the role, flexibility to travel for work in various locations is required.

The standard working hours for this role are 09:00 – 17:30, Monday to Friday. The role is primarily office based, however, flexi-time of 1 hour either side of start and finish time as well as hybrid working will also be considered.
