Job Description

With an in houser manufacturing department, our client provides packaging solutions for the global market place. For over 40 years they have been known for industry leading packaging engineering and award winning design. For this role you will be working from client briefs to create photo-realistic renderings then using the printing/packaging machinery to create samples for the client. Once you have approval you will send the drawings to the manufacturing department.

Job Requirements

  • To specialise in the design and creation of Rigid Box samples for European operations
  • Process creative and production briefs supplied by the customer, CSR, Sales person, marketing team or any manufacturing site associated with the business
  • Liaise with the appropriate CSR, Sales person, Design Studio, Manager or Customer as appropriate in the accurate completion of the above briefs
  • Understand and follow the PSC procedures, and have an understanding of the procedures throughout the rest of the organisation.
  • To liaise with the relevant manufacturing unit, design agency, external supplier or customers to ensure creative briefs are completed to the agreed deadline and Packaging Service Centre (PSC) quality standard
  • To liaise with the relevant manufacturing unit, to ensure that designs submitted are fit for purpose, suitable for production and are aligned with budget expectations
  • To deliver production ready digital 1-up up template files, to enable the relevant business unit to quote jobs and supply samples in order to fulfil customer requirements for finished product, ensuring a quality product in a timely and efficient manner
  • As a champion of rigid box packaging you will provide the sales team and business units with innovative and creative solutions, along with technical support around the design and production of rigid box packaging


  • Responsible for producing plain white mock-ups and full colour mock-ups
  • Ensure that designs are fit for purpose, production and are approved by the relevant manufacturing site before samples and art working templates are released to customers
  • Ensure the correct PDF CAD specifications are supplied to the relevant business unit or customers
  • Ensure all digital production ready files are processed to the required PSC quality standard and procedures
  • To have responsibility for the accuracy of the work completed
  • Ensure accurate completion of all documentation used to carry out the job
  • To accurately input all relevant information into the CAD database
  • Ensure equipment is maintained to highest possible standard, reporting faulty equipment as it arises to your line manager
  • Ensure a clean and tidy working environment, carrying out good housekeeping practice at all times
  • Carry out training within the section as required
  • Read, totally understand and follow all given instructions issued to complete sample requisitions accurately


  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent. City & Guilds Certificate in Packaging or equivalent
  • 5 years experience in a packaging environment with an excellent technical knowledge of the rigid box manufacturing processes and machine capabilities
  • Experience in Media, Beauty & Personal care based packaging preferable
  • At least 5 years experience in CAD software (Artois CAD preferable), Adobe CS suite and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to clearly communicate
