Our client is a specialist joinery manufacturing and design firm based in Colchester. With a 20,000 ft.² manufacturing facility with CNC machinery, Bandsaw, Drill press, Milling Machine and many more state of the art equipment they are working on many high end bespoke commercial projects.
Their fully trained workforce, offers constant standards of high craftsmanship and supports steady growth and consistent levels of achievement. Attention to detail is enhanced by the use of modern computer technology, providing accuracy which is of paramount importance in the production cycle.
Our client is currently undertaking a £900,000 bespoke commercial project in central London and have so far been sub-contracting the design and technical drawings to external contractors. They are now looking to take on a full time experienced Technical CAD Technician who can ‘hit the ground running’ and then develop a CAD team.
You will ideally have experience in the joinery industry with the ability to convert sketches into worktable technical drawings for joinery manufacture. You will have the ability to visit the clients site and undertake site surveys.
You will be required to carry out technical design work using AutoCAD. All drawings will need to be fully detailed and ready for manufacture in the in-house facilities.
The process will require you to create production drawings including converting CAD files to DXF for CNC manufacture, liaising with the manufacturing department to ensure projects are being processed correctly and to within tolerances and getting management approval for drawings. Once management has approved a drawing you will be required to make any amendments as necessary ensuring it is done concisely and in a timely fashion.
You will be coming into a busy and professional office, you will have deadlines for the work you undertake so you will be required to manage your own time effectively. You will also be liaising with other members of the team such as project coordinators and the manufacturing department.
Finally, you will also be required to update in house templates / blocks library / layouts etc. in any time not spent directly working on clients projects.
