You will be working on various ongoing and new engineering projects within the Birmingham engineering department.
As CAD/CAM engineer there is a requirement to produce various CAD drawings and CAM programs in accordance with customer manufacturing plans or work instructions and in line with each sites internal working system using SolidWorks, SolidCam and any other software available within the group, you will also be required to work on the machines making FAI articles as and when needed this includes non-standard working hours if requested.
To work from start to finish on a variety of ongoing and new engineering projects within the department. Production of various CAD drawings and CAM programs. At times you will spend time on the shop floor machining FAI articles until proven off. This will also mean that when short lead times are requested you will be expected to work non-standard hours and overtime at the Engineering Manager’s request.
There is a certain amount of project management regarding planning for various engineering activities relating to engineering projects, for example 6S, Process Improvements and any other requested activities including component first off on machining centres.
- Preparation of CAD drawings to customer manufacturing plans.
- Producing machine programs for various machine operating systems using the latest SolidWorks and Mazatrol CAM packages.
- Process proving for new product.
- Machine bed, Jigs and fixture design.
- General engineering departmental duties i.e. engineering change, routings, SAP, tooling etc.
- Working on and to 6S principles.
